D. Padmakumar
D. Padmakumar is a dancer, actor, choreographer, and trained martial artist in the kalaripayattu form. He is a trained Bharatanatyam Dancer, and also has learnt Carnatic Music. He has been involved with the arts since his childhood. After completing 10th standard, he left his home to pursue his passion in dance – a passion and independence that have driven his career ever since.
D. Padmakumar has worked with some of the foremost dance and theatre companies in India and abroad, (Royal Shakespeare Company) taking him and his work to Greece, Italy, China, Austria, Kirgizstan, Cyprus, Scotland, England, the U.S.A, France, Dubai, U.A.E, Taiwan, and Singapore. His work combines his foundations in Kalaripayattu, Folk and Bharatanatyam with other styles such as modern. Currently, Pappan is a lead performer and choreographer with the Darpana performing group. He also teaches Kalaripayattu classes at the Darpana Academy for Performing Arts.
